Charcot arthropathy foot in diabetes
Charcot's neuroartropathy is a multifactorial, non-infectious, clinical entity that mainly appears in people affected by diabetes mellitus. It has a progressive course and can cause the bone destruction of affected joints. Its real incidence is unknown, partly due to the diagnostic difficulty in the initial moments, but it is considered that with the increase in the prevalence of diabetes mellitus that is being observed at the present time and is expected in the In the coming decades, Charcot's neuroartropathy presentation rate will do so simultaneously.
Recent studies in this pathology make special emphasis on early prevention and diagnosis. Once established, multidisciplinary, timely and effective management is essential in order to reduce the morbidity related to infections, the need for long hospital stay, deformity and osteoarthritic destruction, and finally the consequent amputations.
Thyroid diseases
Between 5 and 20% of the general population has palpable thyroid nodules (thyroid nodular disease) and between 30 and 40%, it has non-palpable that can be identified by means of image tests (basically, ultrasound). On the other hand, the most common form of clinical presentation of thyroid, benign and malignant neoplasms is the appearance of a thyroid nodule.
Thyroid dysfunction is also very prevalent and, along with nodular disease, is one of the most frequent causes of endocrine therapy. It is estimated that the annual incidence of hypothyroidism is 3.5 ‰ in women and 0.6 ‰ in men. Atrophic autoimmune thyroiditis, the most frequent form of adult hypothyroidism, reaches a prevalence of 6-7% in women over 60 years of age and 10%, if hypothyroidism is included subclinical
