An appointment at the day hospital
What are day hospitals?
They are facilities where tests and treatments are carried out that require a few hours' stay, but without the need for hospital admission.
At Germans Trias, there are several day hospitals:
- Multidisciplinary and Pulmonology Day Hospital
- Endocrinology
- Heart Failure
- Onco-haematology
- Paediatrics
- Infectious Diseases
- Eating Disorders
Your doctor has indicated that you need this type of care. They or the nursing staff will inform you about the duration of the procedure.
The Multidisciplinary Day Hospital
The Multidisciplinary Day Hospital cares for patients with a variety of conditions. It has 16 treatment stations (nine beds and seven chairs) where treatments and procedures that do not require hospital admission are performed for an average of 80 people each day. The Pneumology Day Hospital is also located within the Multidisciplinary Day Hospital.
It is open from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 9 pm. It is located on the ground floor (General Hospital) and is accessed via the main entrance, by turning right and going to the end of the corridor.
On the day of your appointment, you may be accompanied by one person, who will be able to stay with you at all times. On arrival, please go to reception to check in. You will need to bring:
- Photo ID or passport
- Health Insurance Card
You will need to remain in the waiting room until a member of the nursing staff assigns you a chair or a trolley.
To make your stay more pleasant, you may bring books, magazines or silent electronic devices, as well as food, unless you have been instructed otherwise (for example, to fast for a diagnostic or therapeutic test).
All information about your stay will be recorded electronically and reviewed by your medical team. When you have finished, please go to the secretariat to schedule your next appointment, if necessary.
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please inform the Multidisciplinary Day Hospital:
- By email: polivalent.germanstrias@gencat.cat
